“Drive the change - The road to 2022”: this was the claim for the CRIF Finance Meeting 2021, which has just concluded its Digital Week dedicated to analyzing the ongoing changes involving the financial sector and how operators can lead the way in driving these changes. The event, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, was very well attended, with more than 50 speakers – from institutions, academia, large banks and insurance companies, consumer credit and leasing companies, and partners of the CRIF ecosystem – with over 1,000 minutes of live streaming, 13 thematic sessions, and a CRIF-Forrester international session.
In the 2021 edition, the three strategic pillars of the event were the extent of changes outlined by the National Recovery & Resilience Plan (PNRR), digitalization, and the green transition and social inclusion, in a rich Digital Week program with round tables, special “focus on” sessions, two CRIF Digital Hall events in the Banking stream, and three sessions entirely dedicated to the Insurance sector. All with special attention paid to Innovation and Sustainability, to understand the new role of financial players, the outlook for innovation, and the main policies (PNRR), directly via the voices of industry CEOs and C-Level executives.
The first day, Monday, November 8, opened with CRIF Digital Hall, the exclusive CRIF educational networking community for finance professionals. David Pieragostini, Director of Business Development & Software Solutions at CRIF, moderated the discussion on “The forward-looking approach in origination and monitoring processes: from re-active to pro-active management”, with the participation of Corrado Pavanati, Head of Risk Italy at UniCredit, and Massimo Tripuzzi, General Manager of Crèdit Agricole Leasing Italia.
The post-COVID recovery and the evolving scenarios of the banking and insurance markets were the common theme of the sessions on the second day, Tuesday, November 9.
In particular, the first session “The financial industry and the mechanisms to support recovery: initiatives and approaches for the growth of businesses and consumers” - moderated by Andrea Resti, Professor of Market Economics and Financial Intermediaries at Bocconi University - involved Michele Campanardi, Chief Lending Officer of BPER, Umberto Filotto, Affiliate Professor of Banking and Insurance at SDA Bocconi School of Management, Alessandro Messina, Italian economist and manager, Angelo Piazza, CEO and General Manager of MB Credit Solutions- Mediobanca Group, Anna Roscio, Executive Director and Head of Sales & Marketing at Intesa Sanpaolo, and Antonella Tornavacca, Chief Risk Officer of Santander Consumer Bank.
Marco Colombo, Managing Director of Finance Italy at CRIF, moderated the next session on “The role of the finance market in the near future: the drivers of change for sustainable business”, with presentations by Silvia Ghielmetti, General Manager of CRIF, Elena Goitini, CEO of BNL- BNP Paribas Group, Roberto Nicastro, Chairman and CEO of AideXa, Corrado Passera, Founder and CEO of Illimity, Gianfranco Torriero, Deputy Director General of ABI, and Fabrizio Viola, Senior Advisor at Equita.
The second day of the CRIF Finance Meeting saw the start of the Insurance Stream, with the session “Insuring the recovery: the role and aspirations of the insurance sector in the world of tomorrow”, which saw Giuseppe Dosi, Head of Insurance at CRIF, in the role of chairperson. Speaking during the session were Maria Bianca Farina, President of Ania, Luca Filippone, General Manager of Reale Mutua Assicurazioni, Matteo Laterza, General Manager of Unipol, Andrea Novelli, CEO of Poste Vita, and Alessandro Scarfò, CEO and Managing Director of Intesa Sanpaolo - Intesa Assicura.
The stream continued on Wednesday, November 10, with 5 sessions including 2 “Focus on” sessions. The first session of the day, on the subject “Digital transformation, platform economy and impacts on business and service models”, was moderated by Luca D'Amico, General Manager of CRIF Ratings and Senior Director of Large Accounts at CRIF, with contributions from Vanna Alfieri, Executive Director of Intesa Sanpaolo, Roberto Cabiati, CIO of Deutsche Bank, Ettore Corsi, Head of the Organization Service at Credem, Giovanni Frausin, General Manager of Sinergia - ICCREA Cooperative Banking Group, and Claudio Rosario Nassisi, Deputy Director General of Banca Popolare Pugliese.
For the Insurance stream the session on “Insurance: new risks and new challenges for insurance companies”, moderated by Giuseppe Dosi, included the speakers Matteo Campaner, General Manager of Vittoria Assicurazioni, Roberto Giordano, Director of Non-Life Insurance at HDI Assicurazioni, Tiziana Lamberti, Senior Director of Protection & Welfare at Intesa Sanpaolo, and Alessandro Molinari, CEO and General Manager of ITAS Assicurazioni.
The themes of “Digitalization and sustainability: how the relationship with credit is changing for consumers and businesses” were at the heart of the Banking session moderated by Simone Capecchi, Executive Director of CRIF, with speeches by Alessandro Borzacca, CEO of Cofidis, Marta Feltrin, Head of Digital Ecosystems and CRM of BNL - BNP Paribas Group, Marco Montagnani, CEO & Founder of Step 4 Business & Azimut Marketplace, Vittorio Ratto, Deputy General Manager of Crédit Agricole Italia, and Michela Sossella, Head of Business Strategy and Pricing at Banca Carige.
The day also saw 2 “Focus on” sessions in the Banking stream. The first looked in detail at the trends in open finance - “Open Finance: myth or reality? Have customer journeys gone?” – chaired by Antonio Deledda, Senior Director, Credit Bureau Solutions & Analytics – Italy at CRIF, while the second discussed the issues of sustainability and ESG factors – “ESG-driven: how to drive sustainable recovery” – with chairperson Marco Macellari, Director of Process & Risk Advisory – Transformation Services at CRIF.
The proceedings on Thursday, November 11 opened with the CRIF-Forrester international session on the theme “The future bank: value added services for SMEs”, during which Guest Speaker Aurelie L'Hostis, Senior Analyst at Forrester, provided an overview of value added services for SMEs. During the session, talks were given by Yam Hung Chan, Senior Manager – Digital and Channels of HSBC Hong Kong, and Bavani Meganathan, Senior Consultant at Strands, who contributed with some examples of how to build practical use cases for SME involvement.
“The value of innovability, human centricity, and the new role of financial players” were the next topics to be discussed during the session moderated by Elena Mazzotti, Head of Client Innovation & Strategy at CRIF, with participation from Andrea Cinelli, CEO & Founder of Foolfarm, Giuseppe Dallona, Chief Information Officer of NEXI, Oscar Di Montigny, President of Flowe & Chief Innovability & Value Strategy Officer at Banca Mediolanum, Natascia Noveri, Executive Director – Head of Innovation at Intesa Sanpaolo, Carlo Panella, Head of Direct Bank of Illimity & Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hype, and Gennaro Tufaro, Head of Digital Platforms and Services at Banco BPM.
The Insurance stream continued on the same day with the session entitled “Insurance to the next level: data and AI to innovate the core business”, in which Giuseppe Dosi moderated the proceedings and speeches by Renzo Giovanni Avesani, CEO of Leithà & Chief Innovation Officer of UNIPOL Group, Paola Corna Pellegrini, CEO of Allianz Partners, Davide Passero, CEO of Alleanza Assicurazioni, Andrea Sabia, CEO of Bene Assicurazioni, and Alessandro Santoliquido, Board Member & Industry Opinion Leader at Amissima Assicurazioni.
The intense and successful CRIF Finance Meeting Digital Week ended on Friday, November 12, with a new CRIF Digital Hall session on “The effects of calendar provisioning and COVID-19 on NPE management: scenarios and strategies to manage impaired loans”. Alberto Sondri, Executive Director of CRIBIS Credit Management, examined these issues with Andrea Clamer, Head of Distressed Credit at Illimity, and Enrico Coppa, Manager in Credit Monitoring and Management at BPER.
