From May 15 to 19 2023, CRIF together with IFC organized a Study Tour in India and Nepal in collaboration with Vietnam Credit Information Joint Stock Company (PCB), Nepal Rastra Bank and CRIF India.
The Study Tour took place in both Mumbai and Saigon, and was aimed at analyzing the importance of a well-developed, structured and complete business model in a credit bureau initiative.
A tangible idea of how a private, modern credit ecosystem should be planned, set-up, developed and managed was given, allowing regulators, credit bureaus and users to start thinking about how to implement regulations and services not yet available in the credit reporting domain in Nepal.
During the event, there was a discussion on how to successfully establish and develop credit bureau operations in Asia, focusing on issues such as:
- the elements of a good credit reporting ecosystem
- how it should be implemented and managed
- potential challenges
- the end benefits
