On April 6, 2023, in Antananarivo, Madagascar, CRIF and BFM organized a workshop on Credit Reporting in collaboration with IFC.
During the workshop, the main differences between a Credit Registry and Credit Bureau were illustrated. Particular emphasis was given to the importance of the complementary relationship that there should be between these two important tools, to foster efficiency in a country’s credit infrastructure.
Another important subject covered during the workshop was the importance of the Credit Bureau as an essential tool to improve the credit risk assessment process of financial institutions, while fostering financial inclusion.
Furthermore, CRIF was able to show the positive results achieved 3 years on from the implementation of the Credit Bureau in Madagascar.
