With the increasing number of online shops and sales, attempted fraud is also on the rise. For this reason, CRIF decided to organize the first e-Commerce Fraud Forum in Salzburg, with the aim of bringing together the experience of online shops, service providers and legal experts in order to discuss new fraud trends and available fraud prevention solutions.
About 100 online shops located in Austria, Germany and Switzerland took part in the conference and shared their experiences: the majority of them said they had been the victim of fraud or involved in fraud investigations.
The results of the survey showed that they are more and more affected by stolen payment data as well as identity theft. To combat this, the majority of the surveyed companies are implementing measures to detect online fraud, and 18% of Austrian traders rely on external service providers.
